Who We Are

Dr. Herren and, most of the staff at Herren Family Dentistry, have been working together for almost 25 years! We have watched our patients grow from children to adults and the next generations come in. We take time to get to know each and every patient on a personal level to make you feel right at home.

Dr. Herren opened his practice in 2008. He and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Vawter, DMD, have four beautiful daughters – Parker, who attends UK and swims for the University; Lily and Alex who attend Corbin Middle School, and are active in cheerleading and cross country; and Lucy who is in third grade. An animal lover, Dr. Herren has two cats, a Dachshund, and a pig at their Estrogen Acres Compound. When Dr. Herren isn’t practicing dentistry, he’s using his green thumb to grow a large vegetable garden! He’s transplanted and divided flowers and plants from family and friends and planted them all over Estrogen Acres.

When Dr. Vawter is not helping in the office, she is the full time shuttle bus for Dr. Herren and her four daughters! Before deciding to go to dental school, Dr. Vawter worked as a Speech Pathologist at a private practice, working with all ages. To get through dental school, she did nursing work on the weekends! Born in Chicago, Dr. Vawter’s family moved to Breckenridge County, KY when she was very young. She moved to Lexington to attend UK, where she met Dr. Herren. Fun fact – Dr. Vawter was a part time teacher at UK College of Dentistry where she met Dr. Herren! Together, they moved to London in 2008 to open their private dental practice.

Dr. Melton was born and raised in London, KY. She graduated from North Laurel High School in 2014 and went on to get her Bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University. Dr. Melton graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2022 with high distinction and even received an award in dental implantology! She is married to her high school sweetheart, Ryan and the two welcomed a baby boy named Henry in July 2022. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, playing music, and binge-watching Netflix!
